Build 0.9 / (1.0?)
As we reach the end of our development cycle, my game has also neared its completion. This week, content-wise, I only added a harder final level to top off the entire game.
Something that I've needed to add for a while now was a competent level finish screen in order to direct players in a more efficient way. This meant that players could consciously decide whether to move on to the next level or to continue the same level to get three stars. The level finish screen would trigger the first time a player received stars in a level, or when the player reaches three stars.
I've also added nice backgrounds, sounds, and made the animal goal bubbles more obvious as to what they were signaling. In general, the level screen has also been redone, with the placeholder assets having been replaced. I also made generic button scripts that worked on any asset that I am quite proud of.
The title screen has been redone, with tutorial a bit more in the middle and an option to actually return to the title screen from the level selection menu.
In summary, I do like where the game is right now, but there is a lot that I also would have liked to add if I had had more time. Currently, the game is playable in its entirety, with a total of 37 levels. Throughout the entire development and playtesting process, I feel that I learned immense amounts regarding the development process - from educational and fun elements to the C# unity code itself.
